Future Plans for Cinquantenaire Park
The government has approved an ambitious plan to revitalize the Cinquantenaire site. The transformation will take place in phases led by Beliris in collaboration with the Regie des Bâtiments and based on a feasibility study by SumResearch.
In 2025, Beliris will launch an international design competition for a comprehensive study, in line with the protocol agreement of June 15, 2023, on research and renovation work at the site. The program will be developed in collaboration with the three museums and coordinated by the asbl Horizon50-200. The results of the competition, along with available funding, will determine which renovation projects take priority.
Asbl Horizon50-200 works closely with the three museums to establish the Cinquantenaire site as a leading cultural destination.
The project’s public partners—including the Prime Minister, federal ministers responsible for Science Policy, Defense, the Regie des Batiments, and Beliris—are members of the organization’s General Assembly. European institutions, the Brussels-Capital Region, the City of Brussels, and the municipality of Etterbeek also participate as members and observers.Asbl Horizon50-200 is funded through an annual grant from Belspo, along with staff secondments from Defense and Belspo. The mandates of General Assembly and Board of Directors members are carried out on a voluntary basis. The asbl Horizon50-200 is responsible for keeping the government informed on the project’s progress.
